Report: Warner Bros. Discovery's Reaction To AEW Collision Debut Revealed

What did Warner Bros. Discovery think of AEW Collision?

There were smiling faces everywhere following the debut episode of AEW Collision.

All Elite Wrestling debuted their new Saturday night series, AEW Collision, on June 17 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The show was widely praised by fans, with standout segments on Collision being CM Punk's opening promo and main event match where he teamed with FTR to take on Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold, Andrade El Idolo vs. Buddy Matthews, and Miro's return where he defeated Tony Nese. The episode also featured a title change as Luchasaurus defeated Wardlow to become the new TNT Champion.

It was noted following the episode that the backstage reaction to Collision was "pretty much positive across the board" and that the show "hit the mark in trying to feel different from Dynamite." The positivity didn't end there, though, and PWInsider noted that Warner Bros. Discovery were thrilled with the broadcast audience and engagement for the first Collision episode.

The Collision premiere averaged 816,000 viewers and drew a 0.33 rating in the key 18-49 demographic in the United States. The show was reportedly well above what TNT normally draws in that Saturday night time slot.
