WWE continued to promote the upcoming Night of Champions pay-per-view on Monday's episode of Raw, with new matches being announced for the show. The Intercontinental Title match between Dominik Mysterio and AJ Styles, meanwhile, was pulled from Night of Champions, with it being stated that Mysterio is dealing with an injury.

SmackDown and Night of Champions are scheduled to air from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 respectively and the status of the events had been up in the air due to Saudi Arabia's proximity to Iran and Israel.

Iran and Israel have been in conflict since Israel launched surprise attacks against their Middle East neighbour on June 13. Hostilities then only increased after the United States launched strikes against three Iranian nuclear sites on June 21, with Iran retaliating by launching an attack against an American air base in Qatar on June 23.

The retaliatory strikes from Iran actually caused issues for WWE staffers travelling to Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions as they were stuck in Qatar due to Qatari airspace briefly being closed after Iran's attack.

Despite the real-life issues, WWE blocked the Israel-Iran conflict from being mentioned on Monday Night Raw, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

"They weren't allowed. They just were not allowed to mention anything…That's probably one of the reasons why they weren't allowed to address it because I don't think they wanted those questions being asked as far as everything. It's potentially dangerous. Some people say, 'Well it's not really that dangerous in Saudi Arabia.' The flying was dangerous today, there's a ceasefire but that came later in the day," Meltzer said.

United States President Donald Trump announced today that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran had come into effect at 6:08 am BST/1:08 am ET. Just a couple of hours later, however, the Israeli military announced they had intercepted missiles allegedly launched by Iran, which has been denied by Iran.

As of the time of writing, the expectation is WWE Night of Champions will be going ahead as planned.
