Report: WWE Interested In Signing Former ROH World Champion

A former ROH World Champion could be heading to WWE

WWE have signed a number of talents since the new regime replaced Vince McMahon at the top of the company and the likes of Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Johnny Gargano, Hit Row, Dakota Kai, and Bray Wyatt have returned to the company since July.

The company are also looking at outside talent, though, and a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio claims WWE are interested in signing former ROH World Champion Matt Taven.

"I know WWE has interest in Taven," Meltzer said.

Taven is currently a free agent, having exited IMPACT Wrestling with OGK tag team partner Mike Bennett after the post-Bound For Glory TV tapings on Saturday, October 8. The OGK had been IMPACT World Tag Team Champions but they dropped the gold to Heath and Rhino in a match that will air in the coming weeks.

Before signing with IMPACT, Taven was a staple of Ring of Honor, having competed in the promotion from 2009 until the end of 2021. He held the ROH World Title for 174 days in 2019.

WWE are interested in another former ROH World Champion in Bandido but the popular talent has yet to decide if he wants to join the promotion or All Elite Wrestling. Former ROH talents Vincent and Dutch were also backstage at Monday's episode of Raw, fuelling speculation that they could be WWE-bound.
