Report: WWE Legend Contacted For Royal Rumble Weekend

Kurt Angle has been open about having no plans to return to the ring following his retirement match back in 2019 against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35, but he might be involved at the Royal Rumble event in some capacity, even if it won’t see him lacing the boots back up one last time. 

Fightful Select have reported that Kurt Angle has informed those close to him that he was contacted by WWE to have some sort of involvement during Royal Rumble weekend as the promotion takes over Indianapolis, Indiana. It was noted that there was no indication whether this had anything to do with the Royal Rumble match or something else regarding the event. Angle is one of many wrestling legends already in town for the Wrestlecon event in Indianapolis, which may explain why WWE reached out to him. 

There have been a whole host of legends reportedly in town for the Royal Rumble show, both those brought in by WWE and those appearing in other events around the city. Angle recently opened up about the ‘Perc Angle’ nickname, detailing some of the painful memories it brings back.
