Report: WWE Releases Sasha Banks

Banks has reportedly left the company

Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc reported on Wednesday night that WWE has released Sasha Banks.

Giri added that it's not clear whether Banks herself requested the release, or if WWE made the decision to release her on their own.

WWE themselves have not made any public notice of Banks being released. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted he hadn't received confirmation from anyone within WWE, while adding that it doesn't mean Giri's report is inaccurate.

If true, the release comes 30 days after Banks and fellow wrestler Naomi (with whom Banks had been reigning with as Women's Tag Team champions) walked out of WWE around the start of a Monday Night Raw taping, reportedly over creative matters.

WWE released a statement while Raw was live on May 16, confirming that Banks and Naomi had walked out. Neither Banks nor Naomi have appeared for WWE since, nor was there any indication that the sides were close to a resolution.

During her time with WWE, Banks was a five-time Raw Women's champion, one-time SmackDown Women's champion, three-time Women's Tag Team champion, and also held the NXT Women's title.
