People within WWE are trying to determine how they can prevent Vince McMahon from making last-minute changes to creative, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. This comes after Vince McMahon remotely made major changes to the June 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, changing three matches, which caused plenty of frustration behind the scenes.

"Logic will tell you that there are many unhappy people and Paul Levesque has to be one of them. These were matches that were built up with promos, they'd been built up for a week, they did angles last week, and they were just taken away like nothing. It's got to be frustrating for the writers, it's got to be frustrating for Paul Levesque. The thing is it's Vince and you can't say anything. That's what somebody brought up to me, if you're a writer you can't say anything to Vince. Even if you're Paul Levesque you can't say anything to Vince because it's like you're f****d if you say anything to Vince. So you can't say anything. They're trying to figure out a way to have him not do this. One person noted to me it would be a lot better if you did it the day before or two days before but he's doing it the day of the show," Meltzer said.

Vince McMahon has been making last-minute changes to WWE programming since he became the head of creative once again after WWE was sold to Endeavor on April 3. McMahon has largely stuck to Monday Night Raw but he decided to make major alterations to SmackDown last week. McMahon primarily makes changes remotely but he has made alterations to Raw in person on two occasions.

Better Wrestling Experience also noted that WWE CEO Nick Khan and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque "didn't appreciate" the outcome of SmackDown as they felt it "looked bad all over." There is reportedly set to be a meeting today to discuss creative plans through SummerSlam and Survivor Series.

Vince McMahon is the Executive Chairman of WWE and has been in that role since he forced his way back into the company in January 2023. The 77-year-old will be the Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings when the WWE-UFC merger is completed.
