Following reports there had been talk behind the scenes within WWE about Edge and Christian Cage wanting to reunite for one last run as a tag team, it was suggested a possible reunion could take place in WWE or even All Elite Wrestling, with Edge's contract set to expire later this year unless he agrees to an extension with Vince McMahon's company.

Edge leaving for AEW would come as a surprise to those within WWE, though, WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport.

"If he retires this summer in Toronto, I wouldn't be surprised. I would be surprised if he finishes his current deal and then goes to AEW, WWE would be surprised too. Even though you've got a Christian factor, you know, they could team one more time and wrestle each other one more time, I'd be surprised if he wrestles past WWE. WWE would be very surprised as well," WrestleVotes said.

AEW did try and sign Edge in 2019 but the 11-time world champion opted to accept the bigger-money offer and return to WWE at Royal Rumble 2020. Christian Cage made his own in-ring return one year later at Royal Rumble 2021 before he signed with AEW soon after.

When Cage's AEW deal expires is unknown. He is set to return to TV with Luchasaurus following a tease last week.
