REVEALED: Why AEW Made Major Talent Cuts

Why AEW carried out major talent cuts

All Elite Wrestling moved away from their doctrine of allowing talent's contracts to expire on April 1 as the promotion released 10 wrestlers, including The Boys, Anthony Henry, Stu Grayson, Gravity, Dasha Fuentes, Slim J, Parker Boudreaux, Jose The Assistant, and Jora Johl.

None of the wrestlers are top stars in All Elite Wrestling or Ring of Honor, although a number of them were utilised at recent tapings of Ring of Honor. The Boys were even a part of the storyline between Dalton Castle and Johnny TV that will lead to a Fight Without Honor at Supercard of Honor on Friday, April 5. Dasha Fuentes, meanwhile, had been the ring announcer on AEW Collision and she was utilised at pay-per-views alongside Dynamite ring announcer Justin Roberts.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, All Elite Wrestling carried out the releases as the promotion are "currently evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents." Whether the promotion will make further releases in the coming days is unknown.

It is believed that all of the released talents are immediately free agents. This differs from WWE's usual policy where released talents are subject to a 90-day or 30-day non-compete clause.
