Rey Fenix has officially signed with WWE.
Fightful Select Espanol has reported that Rey Fenix has put pen to paper on a deal with WWE. The plan as of now is for Fenix to debut as part of Friday Night SmackDown, although the exact date of when he will debut is unknown.
There is no word on when Rey Fenix officially signed with WWE. His signing with the company was all but confirmed last week when his debut was teased in a vignette on the March 14 episode of SmackDown.
Rey Fenix became available to sign with WWE after he was released by All Elite Wrestling in early March. Fenix had been expected to sign with WWE since the Summer of 2024 after it emerged he and his real-life brother Penta had held talks with WWE while under contract with AEW. This prompted AEW to add injury time to Fenix and Penta's deals, with Fenix under contract until well into 2025 when the decision was made to release him. Penta exited AEW in December 2024 when his contract expired.
While Fenix had expressed his unhappiness with AEW in late 2024, alleging "inhumane treatment", Fightful has reported that Fenix "isn't expected to speak heavily on his falling out" with AEW, nor is Penta. Previous reports had noted that Fenix may have agreed to a non-disparagement clause as part of his AEW release.
While it appears Rey Fenix and Penta will not be reuniting on WWE TV any time soon due to Fenix being planned for SmackDown and Penta being on Raw, the tag team will reportedly continue to be known as the Lucha Bros whenever they do team together.
