Alberto El Patron (FKA Alberto Del Rio in WWE) has blamed the Tijuana Wrestling Commission for his six-month ban from wrestling in the city.

El Patron issued the following statement about his ban to Sportskeeda:

"As it happened when we lose my dear friend Pedro [El Hijo del Perro Aguayo], The Tijuana [Wrestling] Commission washed their hands, blaming someone else for what happened to divert the attention. They failed due to not having an ambulance, physician, stretcher, among other things. Today, they do the same thing [blame someone else for their own mistakes], but with me to divert the attention that, a woman and myself ended up physically injured after being attacked by a bunch of misfits [drunk fans]."

Alberto El Patron on March 17 was banned from performing in Tijuana for 180 days by the Lucha Libre Commission of Tijuana due to an incident at a AAA show on March 14. Following a match with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., an angry El Patron entered the crowd and threw a chair at a fan. Del Rio then tried to return to the ringside area, only to be struck in the face by a chair thrown by a spectator. El Patron was then hit by more objects and pushed a fan before he finally returned to the ring.

Sportskeeda has claimed that El Patron was hit by an ice cube and coins before he tried to enter the crowd, although this has not been confirmed.

El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, best known as the leader of Los Perros del Mal, passed away in Tijuana in 2015 from cardiac arrest due to suffering three fractured vertebrae. Aguayo suffered the injury during a tag team match for The Crash alongside Manik against Rey Mysterio and Xtreme Tiger.
