Rey Mysterio Reveals Love For Nacho Libre

Nacho Libre gets two thumbs up from Rey Mysterio.

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio knows cinema.

During a recent appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast, Mysterio noted his love for the 2006 comedy Nacho Libre. The film stars Jack Black as Ignacio, a Catholic friar who moonlights as a luchador in order to earn the money necessary to save the orphanage where he works.

"What a great movie. The movie was based on a real priest. There was a priest in Mexico. Nacho Libre was the sh*t. Jack Black was f***ing awesome. That whole movie was based on a real character. A true story. There was a priest in Mexico, Fray Tormenta, that story was based on him. Obviously, they threw in the comedy. He has a church, he would help kids, and at night he would go wrestle," Mysterio said.

The film was a commercial success, grossing almost $100 million at the global box-office. Mysterio's fellow WCW luchador, the late Silver King, portrayed the villain Ramses in the movie.

WWE parodied soon after it was released when they had The Sandman come out and hit 'Macho Libre' (portrayed by Tony DeVito) with a cane on the June 20, 2006, edition of ECW on Sci-Fi.

Mysterio recently expressed his wish for a WWE PLE in Mexico.
