Ricky Steamboat Almost Tricked Into Turning Heel By Joining Bullet Club

The Dragon caught wind of the ruse, however.

Ricky Steamboat is one of the few notable professional wrestlers to have never turned heel during their career.

Joey Janela almost tricked Steamboat into joining the dark side, however, with The Bad Boy noting on X how he once tried to dupe The Dragon into becoming a bad guy, writing:

"I almost tricked Ricky into turning heel when he was the special guest referee of a match Between Me and Tama Tonga. He would stop counting my pin and reveal a bullet club shirt. I told him they were a babyface stable until somehow he found out they weren't.

"Joey Are the bullet club heels"

"I mean they are like popular"

"I've never went heel in my career and never will Joey"

Janela then confirmed to another X user that the story was "100% true".

The 70-year-old was last seen at the AEW broadcast booth, where he watched Bryan Danielson's Strap Match victory over Ricky Starks at All Out 2023.

Despite appearing for Tony Khan's promotion on several occasions, the WWE Hall of Famer has no desire to work full-time and turned down a producer role.
