John Cena is in the midst of his retirement tour, with rumours suggesting the multi-time WWE Champion was set to receive a lifetime achievement award as part of the upcoming WrestleMania 41 celebrations.
Cena will be the guest of honour at a special lunch event on April 18, but according to reports from PWInsider, Cena will not be receiving any award at the event. The limited event will see 20 guests dine with Cena, at an eye watering $25,000 per head ticket price.
The former ‘Dr. Of Thuganomics’ is in the midst of a heel run in WWE, having turned on Cody Rhodes and beaten the WWE Champion to a bloody pulp at the climax of Elimination Chamber in Toronto in February. Cena recently delivered an impassioned promo against his fans and detractors alike, and it’s wondered if this vitriol will be carried over to this exclusive luncheon.
The Cena event will be one of many WWE are set to run over the course of WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, with the organisation set to run NXT Stand & Deliver, SmackDown, WrestleMania 41 nights one and two, Raw, and NXT, as well as the Hall of Fame ceremony, and Undertaker Dead Man Talking live amongst various other events.
