Samoa Joe Vs. Wardlow Announced For 12/28 AEW Dynamite
For the TNT championship
Wardlow gets a chance to regain the AEW TNT championship on the final AEW Dynamite of 2022, as he takes on champion Samoa Joe.
After winning a squash match on Friday's Rampage, Wardlow began cutting a promo on Joe, but was interrupted by Joe on the tron. Joe said he was interested in giving Wardlow a rematch for the title, but wasn't willing to do it in the state of Texas (the location of both Friday's Rampage and next week's Dynamite), so he picked the December 28 event in Colorado for a proposed defense, which Wardlow accepted.
Joe won the TNT title from Wardlow in a three way match also involving Powerhouse Hobbs at Full Gear on November 19. Joe scored the winning fall on Hobbs with his Cocquina Clutch, after first knocking Wardlow out with the TNT title belt.
Wardlow and Joe previously teamed together as WarJoe, until Joe turned on him weeks before Full Gear.
The December 28 "New Year's Smash" episode of AEW Dynamite takes place at the 1stBank Center in suburban Denver. No other matches have been announced for the card.
