Sarray Reveals She Turned Down New WWE Contract Prior To Exit

Sarray could have remained with WWE if she wanted to

Sareee (FKA Sarray) has revealed that she had the option to re-sign with WWE before her contract expired in March 2023 but she turned down the opportunity to remain with the organisation.

"I didn't fight on the main roster, but I felt that I had learned enough in WWE. I was able to absorb the spirit of entertainment that I had been missing. There was talk of renewing the contract, but I wanted to do wrestling that I believed in, and at 27-years-old, I was at my most physically active, so I thought, I will regret it if I don't do the wrestling I have wanted to do for a long time now," Sareee told Sportiva.

Sarray signed with WWE back in 2020 and eventually arrived in NXT in 2021 following COVID-19-related delays. She was soon repackaged as a schoolgirl who transformed into a glamorous warrior through her grandmother's medallion. Sarray then continued to sporadically wrestle on NXT TV but hadn't competed for the WWE developmental brand since August 2022, months before her contract expired.

The beginning of the end for Sarray in WWE reportedly came in early 2022 when several of her backstage supporters were let go by the company.

Sareee will make her in-ring return on May 16 when she goes one-on-one with Chihiro Hashimoto.
