Scrapped Plans For Michael Cole WWE Match Revealed

Michael Cole almost returned to the ring in WWE

11 years on from his last pro wrestling match and Michael Cole almost made a return to the squared circle in 2023.

According to AJ Francis (FKA Top Dolla) plans were in place for him to face Michael Cole in WWE. Their match would have been kept short and ended with a win for the WWE commentator following a distraction finish.

After an X user questioned Top Dolla's comments about Jim Cornette, AJ Francis replied: "Wait until you idiots realize me and Michael was working together and y'all was too dense to catch on. Michael Cole is a real one."

Francis then wrote: "Me and Cole wanted a match at a PLE. We even had it planned out. I throw him around for 5 minutes, I get cocky and get distracted by (insert any wrestler here) & he beats me with a small package."

One plan for the match would have been for Top Dolla to be distracted by Cole's former broadcast colleague Pat McAfee, who continues to make sporadic appearances for WWE.

The on-screen issues between Michael Cole and Top Dolla stemmed from a botched splash to the outside from AJ Francis, a moment which Cole would regularly reference during Hit Row matches. The moment also became a popular joke on Botchamania.
