With 2024 drawing to a close New Japan Pro-Wrestling are looking ahead to Wrestle Kingdom 19, the annual Tokyo Dome extravaganza on January 4.
At Power Struggle on November 4, several matches were made official for Wrestle Kingdom, on a night that saw all mater of chaos, betrayal, and title changes.
Bullet Club leader David Finlay successfully defended his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Taichi at Power Struggle, with the help of new War Dog SANADA. Finlay then took a mic and challenged ‘Reiwa Musketeer’ Yota Tsuji to try and take the gold from him in the Tokyo Dome, Tsuji already racking up two wins over Finlay in the G1 Climax 34 tournament.
IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion DOUKI was also successful at Power Struggle, but no sooner had he defeated Master Wato he was being challenged by a returning El Desperado, with Despy vowing to beat DOUKI at Wrestle Kingdom, even going as far as to grant Hiromu Talahashi as shot at the belt in the future.
NJPW’s legendary ‘Ace’ Hiroshi Takahashi has confirmed that he will be wrestling his final match at the show, and after losing in tag action to House of Torture’s EVIL and Ren Narita at Power Struggle, EVIL again vowed to be the one to end Tanahashi’s career with a whimper, even attempting to cut off his beautiful majestic hair.
