Shawn Michaels Turned Down AJ Styles Request For WWE Match

HBK didn't want none...

A couple of Royal Rumbles ago, AJ Styles was teasing a dream matchup against now-two-time WWE Hall Of Famer, Shawn Michaels.

Despite the wishes of the entire WWE Universe, Michaels vs. Styles didn't come to fruition.

The Showstopper, of course, was retired by The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 all the way back in 2010. Last year at Crown Jewel, however, HBK came out of retirement and teamed with Triple H in that fateful match against The Undertaker and Kane, and then vowed to never wrestle again... again.

Let's allow Styles, speaking to Cathy Kelley on WWE Now, to tell the tale of being shunned by Michaels: "I asked Shawn [about a match] and he said 'No.' That's on Shawn, guys. I can't do anything about that. I would love to opportunity to do that [match]. But I get where he's coming from too. It's one of those things where, if you say you're gonna retire -- Now, granted, he had a match after his retirement, one [match] -- but I understand not really wanting to do it. When I retire, I want to [stay] retired too."
