All Elite Wrestling are potentially set to receive the ‘gold standard’ with reports suggesting that Shelton Benjamin is set to join the promotion.

Per WrestlePurists, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion is expected to sign with the company, ending months of speculation. Benjamin was initially believed to be close to working with the promotion in Spring 2024, with the two sides reported to have engaged in talks in March although a working agreement seemingly didn’t materialise at the time.

With Benjamin’s Hurt Business ally MVP recently arriving in AEW, it looks likely that Benjamin could be joining his former manager in the rumoured ‘Hurt Syndicate’, with many expecting Bobby Lashley to also join the crew.

Benjamin has never wrestled in an AEW ring, but does have previous experience with AEW sister promotion Ring of Honor, with Benjamin having reigned as ROH World Tag Team Champion on two occasions with former World’s/Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team partner Charlie Haas.

Shelton returned to the independent circuit following his WWE release in September 2023, and has wrestled for the likes of PROGRESS and West Coast Pro.
