Chris Jericho's opponent at ROH Final Battle will be a surprising one.

Along with AEW Dynamite and Rampage, ROH TV was taped from Fishers, Indiana and saw Chris Jericho host a TV Time segment with Bryan Keith as the ROH World Champion noted Big Bill couldn't be there as he had been sent to Nepal to study. Jericho discussed his opponent for Final Battle, noting he wanted to face someone from New York. After Jericho mentioned Frank Sinatra and Tony Soprano, he was interrupted by Matt Cardona.

Chris Jericho then referred to Matt Cardona as "Zack", a callback to his time as Zack Ryder in WWE. Cardona then said he would beat Chris Jericho at Final Battle before he knocked off Jericho's cowboy hat and left the ring to end the segment.

Matt Cardona has made appearances in All Elite Wrestling before, having a short-term run in the promotion in 2020. Cardona then made a one-night return in March 2024, losing to Adam Copeland in a TNT Title match. The former Zack Ryder spends much of his time wrestling on the indies, particularly for GCW, and he also had another run in TNA this year that saw him lose to PCO in a Monster's Ball Match at Bound For Glory.

ROH Final Battle will emanate from New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on December 20, 2024. Already announced for the show is Red Velvet vs. Leyla Hirsch for the ROH Women's Television Title.
