During Friday’s WWE SmackDown tapings at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, WWE held matches for the X-exclusive online wrestling show, Speed, in which matches are contested with a three minute time limit (and five minutes for title matches). A brand new champion has been crowned on the Speed brand. Spoilers for WWE Speed follow.
After outlasting the likes of Katana Chance and Michin in recent weeks in a number one contender tournament, NXT superstar Sol Ruca defeated reigning champion Candice LeRae on WWE Speed to become the brand new WWE Speed Women’s Champion, with her now being just the second ever titleholder in the history of the belt.
LeRae’s reign comes to an end after 189 days, in which time she has defended the title on two occasions, surviving after time limit draws to both Natalya and Zoey Stark. Ruca’s win will air on X on Wednesday April 16, where her reign will officially begin. The men’s Speed division has had three champions thus far, with the title being held by Ricochet, Andrade, and current champion Dragon Lee.
