[SPOILERS] Main Event Match Set For WWE NXT TakeOver 36

A huge NXT Championship match!

WWE taped the next two episodes of NXT on Wednesday evening at the Capitol Wrestling Center, with the 27 July and August 3 editions of the black-and-gold brand being pre-recorded and shown on Syfy due to the Olympic Games.

During the July 27 taping, which will air next Tuesday, the main event match for NXT's next major show - TakeOver 36 - was confirmed by general manager William Regal.

It was confirmed at the NXT taping that, after more than a year away from in-ring action, Samoa Joe will return to challenge Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver 36.

Wednesday's taping included an in-ring segment where Joe, who has been serving as an assistant and enforcer for the general manager, offered Regal his resignation so that he could face Kross at TakeOver. Regal, who had initially wanted to fire Kross during the segment, agreed to Joe's deal and signed the paperwork, making the Championship match official.

Last night's NXT ended with an angle where it was shown that Kross had laid out Regal. The previous week, Kross choked out Joe after he was the special guest referee for Kross' NXT Championship defence against Johnny Gargano.

Joe hasn't wrestled since February 2020 due to reported concussion issues.
