Starrcast Files To Trademark 'SuperClash'

Starrcast seemingly have plans to run more professional wrestling events. 

The company filed to trademark 'SuperClash' for pro wrestling and merchandise purposes on September 7. The full filing was as follows: 

"IC 025. US 022 039. G & S: Hats; Shirts; Bandanas; Shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts

"IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestling and sports entertainers in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes"

SuperClash was a series of shows held by the AWA between 1985 and 1990. The first event saw Rick Martel defend the AWA World Heavyweight Title against Stan Hansen, Ric Flair put the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship on the line against Magnum T.A, and The Road Warriors face off with The Fabulous Freebirds. Japanese stars Jumbo Tsuruta, Giant Baba, and Genichiro Tenryu were also in six-man action, defeating Harley Race, Scott Irwin, and Bill Irwin. 

The trademark filing for SuperClash comes after Starrcast trademarked 'Southwest Championship Wrestling', the name of Joe Blanchard's Texas-based organisation that promoted shows between 1978 and 1985.

Starrcast held Ric Flair's Last Match earlier this year and Conrad Thompson noted following the event that it was part of a master plan.
