Tag Team Tournament Bout, Contract Signing Set For 1/20 WWE SmackDown

Reigns and Owens sign the dotted lines

A tournament to crown new number one contenders to WWE's Tag Team titles will commence on next Friday night's episode of SmackDown.

Authority figure Adam Pearce announced on Friday that the first match in the tournament would pit Drew McIntyre and Sheamus against Erik and Ivar of The Viking Raiders.

No other teams have been announced for the tournament. Champions the Usos already have a scheduled defense of the Raw Tag titles against Judgment Day.

Also announced for next week's show is a contract signing between WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, for their title match at the Royal Rumble coming up two weeks from now.

Owens issued the challenge to Reigns last week, and subsequently defeated Reigns' stablemate Sami Zayn by disqualification on Friday's edition of SmackDown.

The current card for next Friday's WWE SmackDown, taking place at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, includes the following:

* Tag Team title top contenders tournament first round bout: Drew McIntyre and Sheamus vs. The Viking Raiders

* Contract signing involving Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens
