Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi Win NJPW World Tag League 2024
The winners of the World Tag League 2024 have been decided
Dec 8, 2024
Following a wild group stage phase in which Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi had to win a three-way match against the duos of Toru Yano & Oleg Boltin and EVIL & Ren Narita to emerge from Block B, they advanced to the finals of the NJPW World Tag League to take on SANADA & Gabe Kidd to determine the winners of this year’s tournament.
In the finals of the World Tag League, it was the pairing of Tetsuya Naito and Hiroku Takahashi, representing Los Ingobernable de Japón, who emerged victorious in a hard fought and chaotic battle with Kidd & SANADA. Takahashi and Naito will have to put their victory to the side next month though, as they are scheduled for a singles match at Wrestle Kingdom 19.
The current status of the World Tag League winners and the IWGP Tag Team Championships are currently up in the air. The pairing of The Great-O-Khan and HENARE (the reigning IWGP Tag Team Champions) were forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury suffered to HENARE, meaning that they will likely be forced into vacating the belts. They are currently scheduled to defend their gold against The Young Bucks at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, which is now unlikely to take place.
