It was revealed this week via reports that former AEW World Tag Team & Trios Champion Penta El Zero Miedo was officially gone from AEW following the expiration of his contract. This was confirmed by the fact that he was removed from AEW’s roster page. His exit has been heavily expected following rumours earlier in 2024 that he and brother Rey Fenix were WWE bound, resulting in them no longer being used on AEW programming.

Penta has already exercised his newfound freedom, making a surprise appearance at AAA’s TV tapings last night. However, his appearance was not to spark any sort of return to the company, as he cut a short promo saying his goodbyes to AAA and Mexico, declaring that he was taking time off to make a career decision. AAA put a post on social media regarding Penta, captioning it ‘Goodbye or a new beginning?’

Fenix is slated to join Penta in WWE, but he is still reportedly under contract well into 2025 due to injury time being added on to his deal. Penta’s most recent match came back at a show in Mexico in September, not appearing on AEW programming since back in June.
