For the first time in several years, The Hardys will perform as a tag team on WWE TV.

Matt and Jeff Hardy made a surprise appearance on Tuesday night's edition of NXT, answering a challenge from No Quarter Catch Crew’s Tavion Heights and Myles Borne. The Hardys accepted the NQCC challenge and the match will take place on next week's WWE NXT from Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Hardys also hinted at a future match with NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom in their surprise promo. That match was first teased in January on TNA programming.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque paid tribute to The Hardys following their surprise appearance, tweeting:

"Two men who have re-defined tag-team wrestling for over 25 years. The Hardy Boyz have reached the pinnacle of our industry (and often jumped off of it) to the amazement of fans worldwide…and they return to a @WWE ring NEXT WEEK on #WWENXT in Cincinnati."

The Hardys have been a part of TNA Wrestling for the past several months, with Matt making his return in April 2024 at Rebellion before Jeff returned to the promotion a couple of months later at Against All Odds. The Hardys are the reigning TNA World Tag Team Champions, having won the belts in the main event of Bound For Glory in October.

Matt and Jeff will be a part of TNA until at least the end of 2025, having signed a one-year deal with the company.

The Hardys' appearance on WWE NXT took place amidst the brand's partnership with TNA, which was formalised in January 2025. TNA X-Division Champion Moose also made a surprise appearance on NXT, having a face-off with Oba Femi.
