The Rock’s return to WWE at Bad Blood suggested that ‘The Great One’ was back to start building a programme for WrestleMania 41, but this apparently is not the case.

Rock returned after the climax of the Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu main event, with ensuing reports suggesting Rock, Reigns, and Rhodes could be set to face off in triple threat action at Mania in April 2025.

Further reports from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests this is not a lock, and as of writing The Rock is not scheduled for the event, although this can obviously change.

Meltzer suggest that sources within WWE with an ‘old school’ mentality didn’t like the fact the multi-time WWE Champion stole the show at Bad Blood without intending to follow-up with a match, with the source allegedly stating: “He’s not going to be able to do Mania. He already gave word that he wouldn’t be able to do that match”.

There is still a little over six months until WrestleMania XLI on April 19 and 20, and should Rock change his mind then he would likely have to confirm plans no later than the 2025 Royal Rumble. As a board member of WWE parent company TKO, Rock has enormous say, and Meltzer suggests that if Rock does work Mania then ‘ultimately he would decide who he wants to face and the only thing that would get a pushback was if he wanted to win the WWE title’.

Rock was believed to have been factored into a match against Reigns at WrestleMania 39 in 2023 but this did not happen, mainly due to Rock’s intense schedule.
