The Rock Returns On WWE Raw, Teases Huge Match With Roman Reigns

The Rock makes his return during WWE Raw Day 1

WWE kicked off 2024 in a big way with the Day 1 edition of Monday Night Raw that featured the return of The Rock.

Triple H teased ahead of the show and reports indicated that an appearance from a former WWE Champion was in the works for Day 1. That former WWE Champion was initially Jinder Mahal, who made his way to the ring on Raw to cut an anti-USA promo. The Rock then made his surprise return to shut up his fellow former WWE Champion and the Brahma Bull proceeded to conduct the crowd in chanting "day one douchebag" at Mahal.

The segment ended in the expected manner, with a People's Elbow from The Rock to Mahal. The Hollywood star then hinted at future plans with WWE, telling the crowd in San Diego he was hungry and going to eat. The Rock then asked if he should sit in a booth, at a bar, or at the Head of the Table, teasing a future showdown with Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns has since responded to the Rock's comments with a crying with laughter emoji on X (FKA Twitter).

A match between Roman Reigns and The Rock has been rumoured for years and Dwayne Johnson stated earlier this year it was on the table for WrestleMania 39 before plans fell through. Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes II has long been expected as the main event of WrestleMania 40 and Cody stated in November he wasn't "flinching" at the prospect of losing the WrestleMania main event to The Rock.

Another option for The Rock vs. Roman Reigns would be for the match to take place at Elimination Chamber on February 24 in Perth, Australia. Both Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania are stadium shows.
