The Young Bucks: "Jack Perry Unfairly Ate Crap For A Long Time"
The Young Bucks talk about Jack Perry’s ‘Scapegoat’ status
May 23, 2024
After the events of All In 2023, Jack Perry found himself sitting on the sidelines of All Elite Wrestling, with the self-proclaimed ‘Scapegoat’ eventually returning to wreak havoc on the company in April 2024.
Perry is now part of the new look Elite with Kazuchika Okada and The Young Bucks, with the quartet running AEW by martial law. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, The Bucks spoke of their alliance with Perry, acknowledging the former Jungle Boy’s tribulations after his fight with CM Punk:
“Jack unfairly ate crap for a very long time,” said Matt Jackson. “So we had a lot of empathy for him, and we were very excited to help launch his comeback.”
Perry returned to AEW during the Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21, helping The Young Bucks win the vacant AEW World Tag Team Championships. Prior to this, Perry had been wrestling for New Japan Pro-Wrestling as part of House of Torture, although The Bucks kept a close eye on Perry’s activities:
“We kept an eye on him the entire time he was gone and helped him navigate the situation–a familiar one that we had also gone through,” said Matt Jackson. “We also talked him down a few times. We gave him advice on how to succeed in Japan. It felt like he was our little brother. We saw him for the first time since All In, a couple days prior to the pay-per-view. We met him in our private jet, and talked endlessly the entire flight. We let him get it all out of his system, but assured him that this would be a fresh start. I was so thrilled to hear and see the groundswell for him when he appeared for the first time. It was like a rebirth for him.”
The Elite are set to fight FTR, Bryan Danielson, and Darby Allin in an Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing on May 26.
