On Friday night's episode of WWE SmackDown from the Performance Center in Orlando, Big E won the SmackDown Tag Team titles on behalf of himself and New Day partner Kofi Kingston, in a triple threat match.

Big E was battling Jey Uso and solo defending champion The Miz, and scored the pinfall on Miz with The Big Ending. Miz had Uso in his figure four just before the finish.

The victory gives The New Day their eighth pair of Tag Team titles overall as a group, and their sixth reign as SmackDown Tag Team champions. The only duo (or trio) in company history with more reigns as champions are The Dudley Boyz, with nine.

The match on Friday was an inversion of the title bout at WrestleMania 36. There, John Morrison successfully defended the belts against Kingston and Jimmy Uso in a three-way ladder match. Originally, the match was to have been a three team ladder match, but The Miz was forced out of the contest, and the singles triple threat was instituted instead.
