Monty Brown roaring in TNA in front of a blurred audience

It was recently announced that this year’s TNA Hall Of Fame inductees would come in the form of Rhino and Bob Ryder, picks that were universally popular amongst fans. One originally planned name for the TNA Hall Of Fame this year was Monty Brown, who was one of the earliest stars in the company, spending time in the promotion in 2002 and later returning between the years of 2004 and 2006. He mixed it up with many of the top stars in TNA in his pursuit of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, though he never ended up winning the title.

He parted ways with TNA and signed with WWE as Marcus Cor Von, but his time there was ultimately a failure. He was released in 2007 and retired from wrestling. On his Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy revealed that Brown was in line for an induction, but TNA were unable to get hold of him.

“I know there was a big push from a lot of the boys, and I’m down with this too, Monty Brown was someone that was up for consideration but it seemed like they were having a hard time getting hold of Monty Brown, he’s off the grid it seems like. He would’ve been a really killer candidate too considering it was in Detroit.”

It was revealed last year that Brown could have made a return to TNA back in 2020, but this never came to fruition.
