Upcoming WWE main roster call-up set for top NXT star
A top NXT star is in line for a main roster WWE call-up in the coming months, per reports.
After impressing on NXT for several years, Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have cemented themselves as two of the must see talents on the brand, with the pair’s split as a tag team and ensuing vicious rivalry the hot storyline heading into NXT Stand & Deliver 2024.
Rumours surrounding call-ups for both stars have abounded for months, and a report from Fightful Select states that Carmelo Hayes is expected to join the main roster during the Summer, with plans for his call-up having been discussed prior to the Royal Rumble in January.
As for Williams, whilst nothing is concrete, WWE management apparently took note of the reaction Trick received during his surprise appearance on SmackDown in January, with the Miami fans in attendance loudly chanting ‘Whoop that Trick’ when Williams saved then-partner Hayes from an Austin Theory and Grayson Waller beatdown.
It’s been suggested that some in WWE have pitched the idea of continuing the Trick vs. Melo rivalry on the main roster post-Stand & Deliver, but nothing has been confirmed regarding the matter. WWE are said to see Williams as a future main eventer in the company.
