WWE Working On ECW Projects

ECW projects in the works for WWE

Although WrestleMania XL will be a celebration of all things WWE, the event is set for Philadelphia, which for many wrestling fans can only mean one promotion; Extreme Championship Wrestling.

ECW head Paul Heyman is already set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and a report from PWInsider states that WWE are also working on other ECW projects.

Whilst not directly tied to WrestleMania weekend, the report confirms that WWE are working on an ECW episode of WWE Legends Biography for A&E, with numerous talents allegedly already contacted for interviews. The episode is not intended for the current season.

Back to Philly and Mania weekend, WWE will be using the iconic ECW Arena (aka the 2300 Arena) for a private event over the weekend. Produced in conjunction with Endeavor’s concierge service On Location, the planned event in the famous ‘bingo hall’ will be a private event on the Sunday afternoon for On Location Package holders, with a meet and greet, and display of ECW artefacts set for the afternoon. The event is not open to the public and strictly for premium package holders.

Ever since WrestleMania 40 was announced for Philadelphia there has been much speculation about ECW involvement, with former ECW World Champion Rob Van Dam originally advertised for WWE events before his AEW debut cast his involvement into doubt. His WWE bookings were subsequently cancelled.
