Trick Williams Defended From Dave Meltzer Criticism By Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin defends Trick Williams over Dave Meltzer criticism

Baron Corbin has defended Trick Williams following criticism aimed at the former NXT North American Champion by Dave Meltzer.

While discussing the main event of WWE NXT on April 16 that saw Trick Williams face Carmelo Hayes in a Steel Cage Match, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match was good but "something was just missing". This led to Dave Meltzer stating that Williams "isn't that good."

"Trick isn't that good. That's the reality. He's got incredible, incredible charisma, but you put them in the main event match. And granted, he did look really good with Ilja [Dragunov] but you know, Ilja is one of those people that gives you the false perception of the ability of the other person. It's like wrestling Ric Flair or The Young Bucks. They always look better somehow, like you watch all these tag teams with The Young Bucks. Oh my God, these guys are great. But they're never great against anybody else, you know, and Ilja's the same way. You know, like just whatever the yeah, I mean, that's, I thought the match was good. But yeah, it was like it's good. It's a cage match," Meltzer said.

Baron Corbin has since defended Williams, responding to an aggregation of Meltzer's comments by tweeting"Trick is dope and gets better every time he steps in the ring! Charisma connects you to the people, the people buy your merch and tune in to see you. They don't give a sh*t if you're the best technical wrestler ever. Trick will be extremely successful!"

Williams could soon be NXT Champion as he will challenge Ilja Dragunov for the gold at Spring Breakin. WWE are extremely high on Trick and they believe he could be a future WrestleMania main event talent.
