After Brock Lesnar teased his retirement back at WrestleMania 42 after his loss to Oba Femi, only to return a matter of weeks later to continue their feud, many expected Lesnar to hang up the boots in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota at SummerSlam 2026. In the lead-up to the show, reports suggested that Lesnar’s Hell In A Cell match with Femi was actually not expected to be his last match.
Following Femi’s victory over Lesnar in the main event of SummerSlam 2026 Saturday, the multi-time world champion raised Femi’s arm and offered him words of endorsement on the mic, but there was no indication that he was finished in the ring. On the SummerSlam post-show, Triple H commented on Lesnar’s in-ring future.
“I don’t know. You saw Brock in whatever way he retired a few months ago and then come back and do this. But for Brock to walk back to the ring, to bring Oba back in there with him, to put him over verbally and physically as, ‘This is the future of the business. This is the today. This is the now. This is the future, and I am the past.’ That’s a pretty bold statement. Brock doesn’t just say things. Without reading into it any more than that, ‘I am the past’ is what he said. But you know as well as I do, Brock does what Brock wants to do. So I would take what he said at face value and let’s see.”
Triple H also may comment that Lesnar’s talents were not fully appreciated by wrestling fans.
