Much has been made of Triple H and Vince McMahon’s relationship over the years, but Hunter has revaled one time when the two had a heated confrontation when working together.

During his early run in WWE as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Triple H found himself having a singles bout with Ahmed Johnson, with the former Intercontinental Champion having a reputation of being difficult and haphazard to work with. During an appearance on FLAGRANT, Triple H revealed that he was not happy with being paired with Johnson, and clashed with McMahon over it:

“The only one time I ever went to him [McMahon] and bitched in all of it, and it was because he put me in a match with a guy that was almost impossible to work with, and then gave me, like, the worst referee that we had, and, like, the whole setup was bad, and it went really badly. And I came back, and I went off, and it was like, ‘Hey, f*** it if you’re going to, if you’re going to not allow me to have the chance to succeed, then f*** that. I’m out of here’. Like you cannot give put me in a position where I cannot f****** succeed, or cannot win, and can’t even do my job right, like if you put me in that position, then I have no choice but to go because I can’t overcome that,” said Triple H.

“I was wrestling a guy that was just terrible. They wanted me to have this long match with them. They gave me the worst referee, which a referee can help you work around people’s inabilities…. because I can talk to the referee. So if I need a guy to do something, he’s not doing something right, I can’t just always walk over there and tell him…. I’m like, ‘f******, tell him to stop doing that’. And f****** what I mean, like in the referee can go over and tell him, ‘He said, stop doing that. Do this’, right. And I have enough experience to where guys will listen. But I need that. Sometimes you need the help, especially on live TV or even tape TV, you just need to have that,” Triple H continued. “Ahmed Johnson, a guy named Ahmed. Just terrible. Hurting people. And he was just big and you couldn’t understand them, and he had an attitude problem. And just that’s him, and it was just one of those things. And when I came back, I was p*****, and I went to Vincent, I got a promo on him, and I thought he was going to go off of me. ‘Well, f***, I told you, if you don’t like it, f*** you get out of here’, whatever. And he didn’t. He was like, ‘That’s fair’. And I was like, ‘Okay, well, then f****** don’t do it again’. I just walked out.”

Johnson was part of WWE from 1995 until 1998, and wrestled Triple H on eight occasions, with four televised singles encounters between the two.
