Two Title Matches Added To AEW WrestleDream

AEW have added more matches to WrestleDream

AEW’s first ever WrestleDream PPV is fast-approaching, emanating from Seattle, Washington on October 1st 2023. Unlike some other recent AEW marquee events, the build for this one is starting far sooner with several matches being announced weeks in advance.

On last night’s AEW Collision, Aussie Open scored a quick and decisive victory over some local jobbers, and after the match they called out the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR. They issued a challenge for WrestleDream, which was later made official. With WrestleDream being somewhat of a tribute to Antonio Inoki, Tony Khan noted that there would be some NJPW influence, and it should be noted that these two teams previously battled for the IWGP Tag Team Championships.

NJPW legend Katsuyori Shibata will also be on the card, as he is set to defend his ROH Pure Championship at the PPV. Shibata’s opponent has yet to be revealed.

The current card for WrestleDream is as follows;

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • FTR (c) vs. Aussie Open - AEW World Tag Team Championships
  • “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
  • Katsuyori Shibata (c) vs. ??? - ROH Pure Championship
