Tyrus Wins NWA World Title At Hard Times 3

A new champion has been crowned

Tyrus is the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight champion, winning the title in the main event of NWA Hard Times 3 on Saturday night in Chalmette, LA.

Tyrus defeated reigning champion Trevor Murdoch and fellow challenger Matt Cardona in a three way match. After Murdoch took out Cardona with a DDT outside the ring, he slid back inside, where he fell victim to a chokeslam from Tyrus for the fall.

The win gives Tyrus only his second championship in wrestling, after previously holding the NWA Television title. He never held gold in his former homes of Impact or WWE (where he wrestled as Brodus Clay from 2010 to 2014).

Tyrus unsuccessfully challenged Murdoch for the title at NWA 74 in August, cashing in his Television title for the shot.

Murdoch's reign as champion ends after 154 days. He won the title on June 11 in Knoxville, TN, as part of a four way number one contender's match over Nick Aldis, Thom Latimer, and Sam Shaw (Dexter Lumis between WWE runs). The belt had been vacated by prior champion Cardona, who was injured.
