Universal Championship Hell In A Cell Match Moved To WWE SmackDown

Reigns will now defend his Title against Mysterio on Friday

Roman Reigns' defence of the Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio in a Hell In A Cell Match will now take place on this week's episode of SmackDown.

The bout inside the hellish structure had originally been set for this weekend's Hell In A Cell pay-per-view but WWE announced late on Thursday evening that the Universal Title match will now happen on Friday night instead.

The announcement of the match being moved forward was set up by challenging Mysterio tweeting that he can't wait until Sunday to face The Tribal Chief.

Mysterio wrote: "It’s eating me up inside. I can’t wait any longer. I want the Hell In A Cell match tomorrow night. @WWERomanReigns @HeymanHustle"

His demand provoked a response from Reigns, who put: "Sunday. Friday. Any day. Makes no difference to me. It'll be my pleasure to disgrace what's left of your family name tomorrow night inside Hell in a Cell!

"My Special Counsel @HeymanHustle will handle the paperwork. I’ll PERSONALLY handle the warfare! @WWE #Smackdown"

It remains to be seen what this means for the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, which now only has one confirmed titular match - the WWE Championship bout between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.

Reigns and Mysterio is added to a SmackDown that also features Baron Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Intercontinental champion Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez vs. Kevin Owens and Big E, and Otis vs. Angelo Dawkins.
