All Elite Wrestling went ‘black and gold’ on November 6 when Adam Cole and Malakai Black met in singles competition on Dynamite, with some feeling the match could be a send-off for Black.

Cole got the win after hitting the Boom on Black, with Malakai sitting cross legged in the ring awaiting his fate. Post-match the two embraced, before Black took a look back at the ring on his way to the back. Such out of character turns have fuelled speculation that Black could be on his way out of AEW.

A report from Fightful Select suggests that those within AEW believe the former AEW Trios Champion’s deal could be up in late 2024 or early 2025 if AEW don’t exercise certain option extensions, but this has not been confirmed. AEW President Tony Khan stated in 2022 that Black had ‘almost five years' left on his deal, but this is believed to be at a maximum if AEW were indeed to enact option years.

Reports in September claimed WWE were interested in having the former NXT Champion back in the company should he exit AEW.
