Update On Mercedes Mone's Future Plans

There are plans for a Mercedes Mone match when she returns

Mercedes Mone has been out with an injury ever since losing to Willow Nightingale at NJPW Strong Resurgence in May earlier this year to determine the first ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. Plans are already being made for her return to action with a match tentatively planned for her return to Bushiroad to promotions to challenge for the title she didn’t manage to win.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that plans are in place for a match between Mercedes Mone and Giulia. The initial plan was to have Mone as the inaugural champion, but her injury caused plans to be changed on the fly. This led to the belt being switched quickly to Giulia, who is the more notable name and bigger star, with the foresight that Giulia vs. Mone is a massive match.

It still isn’t clear how far out Mone is from a return, but there has been talk of her working in AEW in addition to working some more with Stardom and NJPW.
