Update On Potential New AEW/WBD Deal

AEW and WBD are expected to come to terms on a new deal

2024 is the year of new TV/streaming deals in professional wrestling, with big changes seeing Friday Night SmackDown heading to the USA Network and WWE striking up a $5 billion deal with Netflix. The future of AEW and their weekly television shows is currently uncertain, but the expectation is that their relationship with Warner Bros Discovery will continue.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast spoke on the progression of AEW and WBD, and noted that this extension of a deal is very likely to happen. It is said that he feels confident that it will be done, and that the AEW library will be landing somewhere on the MAX streaming platform too. AEW’s PPV schedule is set to increase this year, with some suggestions for this being Tony Khan vying to expand the AEW library to increase the chances of a streaming deal.

When it comes to TV specifically, Zarian commented that AEW is in little danger of losing their spot on television, even though no deal has been announced. Tony Khan has been open about how positive his relationship with WBD continues to be.
