There are no plans for Real American Freestyle to shut down following Hulk Hogan's passing on July 24, with the amateur wrestling league announcing they planned to honour Hogan and his legacy.

Real American Freestyle posted:

"Today we lost our Commissioner. We lost a friend. And the sport of wrestling lost one of its greatest champions, not just in the ring, but in spirit.

"Hulk Hogan believed wrestling was more than just entertainment. He saw it as a brotherhood, a proving ground and a platform for greatness. That's what Real American Freestyle was built to be, a new stage for the toughest, most passionate athletes on Earth. And Hulk was at the center of it.

"From day one, he threw his weight behind this league. He met with athletes. He watched tape, shared stories and showed up like only he could. RAF was personal to him, something bigger than all of us. This league is part of his legacy, and we intend to honor it."

Hogan - real name Terry Bollea - passed away at the age of 71 following a "massive cardiac arrest." Hogan was taken to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased. The Clearwater Police Department are conducting a medical investigation into Hogan's passing but they noted there are no signs of foul play or suspicious activity.

Hogan launched Real American Freestyle in April 2025 and the league's first event is currently planned for the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 30. The show will air on Fox Nation in the United States and TMZ has reported the event is still planned to air live despite Hogan's death.

Fox Nation President Lauren Petterson paid tribute to Hogan, saying: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Hulk Hogan, who single-handedly shaped the world of professional wrestling and inspired millions around the world. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and his many fans."
