Update On The Rock Possibly Wrestling At WWE WrestleMania 40

Will The Rock be in action at WrestleMania 40?

Cold water was thrown on the possibility of The Rock wrestling at WWE WrestleMania 40 this week following reports there are currently no plans for The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at the Showcase of the Immortals. Any decision on the match also reportedly won't be made by The Rock, nor is it a certainty that Dwayne Johnson would accept a match because of his outside obligations.

In the latest update on a possible Rock match at WrestleMania 40, though, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that a WWE source can't believe the company would turn down a Rock match if he wants to perform. The company is not planning for The Rock to wrestle at WrestleMania 40, though, due to him dropping out of a match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

The belief within WWE is The Rock will have plenty of work when the SAG-AFTRA strike is over. It is also not believed The Rock would come back and win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Reportedly planned for the main event of WrestleMania 40 at this stage is Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

WrestleMania 40 will emanate from Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on April 6 and April 7, 2024.
