Update On When Malakai Black's AEW Deal Expires

Malakai Black’s time with AEW looks to soon be at an end with reports emerging that he is finishing up with the promotion ahead of the expiration of his deal. Further reports soon emerged suggesting that WWE are expected to swoop in and sign Black after he eventually departs AEW, bringing about a return to the company for the first time since his release in 2021.

It was not immediately known when Black would be leaving AEW, but PWInsider have followed up with more details regarding his contractual status. Sources have told PWInsider that Black will be a free agent around February or March this year. This latest report has also indicated that Black will no longer be making any appearances in AEW, despite still being under contract for potentially a couple more months. 

On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Buddy Matthews was told by opponent Will Ospreay after their match that he did not need a leader - something Matthews seemingly agreed with, marking the end of his time under Malakai Black in the House Of Black faction.
