Rumours began to circulate on Tuesday night following a report from Better Wrestling Experience which claimed that Velveteen Dream had been going through therapy and was progressing well. It was even claimed that he had visited the WWE Performance Center.

This was promptly denied by Fightful Select, who reported they had been told by WWE emphatically that Velveteen Dream had not been at the Performance Center. A WWE higher-up also stated the company had no interest in re-signing Velveteen Dream at this time and "something shocking would have to take place" for the former NXT talent to be brought back to the organisation.

Velveteen Dream was released by WWE in 2021 and he was the source of numerous controversies while in NXT. This included allegations that he filmed his colleagues in EC3's bathroom without their consent, wellness violations, and accusations of him being reckless in matches.

Patrick Clark, the man behind Velveteen Dream, has since denied he was at the WWE Performance Center, writing on his Instagram Stories: "I AM NOT IN A REHABILITATION FACILITY NOR HAVE I VISITED ORLANDO FLORIDA  - THE WWE PERFORMANCE CENTER - OR ANY WWE EVENTS OR FACILITIES. I encourage all wrestling media and platforms to highlight the women and men who put together awesome weekly television!  And not waste time publishing and pushing false narratives and fake news about me! I haven't contributed anything to your line of entertainment in YEARS!  Please do better and use your platforms to showcase the bright and prominent future that is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING."

Since his WWE release, Velveteen Dream was arrested in 2022 after allegedly biting and punching a gym employee. The charges were later dropped.
