WWE found themselves at the centre of controversy over the weekend after photos of WWE talent with ROH founder Rob Feinstein began to appear on social media and Feinstein was also shown on TV sitting in the crowd behind the announce table during the go-home edition of SmackDown on Friday night.

Fightful Select has reported that WWE has no affiliation with Feinstein and they did not invite him to SmackDown. Feinstein instead ended up attending the show as a friend of his had been comped for SmackDown and gave him a ticket.

Feinstein was not given backstage access and he got so many photos with talent as he found out what hotel the wrestlers were staying at. Several talents told WWE that Feinstein could be seen on-screen and that he was "lurking around the lobbies."

Rob Feinstein founded Ring of Honor in 2002 and he was one of the promotion's owners during the company's early years. He resigned from ROH and RFVideo in 2004 after he allegedly made plans to meet with who he thought was a 14-year-old boy and 'hang out' at the boy's home when the minor would have been home alone. The 14-year-old boy was ultimately an adult posing as a minor and Feinstein was met with news cameras when he arrived at the house, at which point he drove away. Feinstein resigned from Ring of Honor and RFVideo in the aftermath, although he later returned to RFVideo.

Cary Silkin ended up taking over Feinstein's share in Ring of Honor and he funded the promotion until it was purchased by Sinclair Broadcast Group in 2011.
