WWE headed to Mexico over the weekend for a couple of house shows, first holding a live event in Mexico City on Saturday night before a show in Monterrey on Sunday.

Two Mexican talents were absent from the house shows, however, as WWE opted not to book Angel and Berto on either show, even though both are from Monterrey. According to Fightful Select, WWE didn't book Angel and Berto on either event because the cards were already packed with stars due to being "super-shows".

Angel addressed his absence from the Monterrey house show in particular, tweeting (translated from Spanish): "Unfortunately today I am not in the #Supershow of my hometown MONTERREY NL but enjoy and I hope to see you next time."

There were multiple luchadors still in action across the Mexico house shows, including Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and Angel & Berto's faction mate Santos Escobar. New WWE signing Stephanie Vaquer was also in action, defeating Isla Dawn on both nights before the former CMLL Women's World Champion reports to NXT.

Angel won't be leaving WWE anytime soon, having put pen to paper on a new three-year deal in recent weeks. His contract was originally set to expire on August 1.
