Dalton Castle Knocked Out On AEW Collision

Dalton Castle was KNOCKED OUT on AEW Collision

One segment on the July 13 edition of AEW Collision ended up being a "complete mess" after Dalton Castle was legitimately knocked out during his match with Roderick Strong. The finish of the match taped on July 10 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada saw Strong catch Castle with his Jumping Knee, at which point Castle collapsed to the mat. The broadcast featured two camera cuts while the referee counted the winning pinfall, with Roderick Strong confirmed as the winner and Mark Briscoe's opponent for the ROH World Title at Death Before Dishonor.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Dalton Castle was knocked out from the knee and the situation turned into a "complete mess" when the referee didn't initially complete the three count as it wasn't the planned finish. After Castle didn't move, however, the official counted the winning pinfall and the two moments were spliced together to present a cohesive finish during the Collision broadcast.

"What happened was a flying knee that knocked out Dalton Castle. He got knocked out. The referee counts 1-2, held up the count because it wasn't supposed to be the pin, then counted the 3 because Dalton Castle never moved. They didn't show Dalton Castle. He was on the ground for several minutes, so they didn't show any of that," Meltzer said.

"You could see the edit but the edit was the referee held up the count, Dalton didn't kick out, and then the referee had to count the three because Dalton wasn't getting up. In the building, this was a complete mess and they were very lucky that this week's show was taped for this reason. Not a good one."

There is no update on Dalton Castle's condition following Collision. One of the headline matches at Death Before Dishonor on July 26 will be Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong for the ROH World Championship.
